FORMER Gillingham captain Chris Hope has joined Conference side Rushden & Diamonds on a two-year deal.

The 33-year-old had several offers to play League football, but has instead opted to help the Nene Park side bounce back into the Football League, following last season’s relegation

Hope turned down a move to League 2 side Darlington and was also understood to have held talks with Brentford.
