Kent clubs competing in this season's FA Cup have been given a further incentive to do well.

The FA have increased the prize fund by nearly £7million with clubs at all levels of the game set to benefit.

Gillingham know that success in the first round proper of the competition will now be worth £20,000, compared to £16,000 last season.

Second round winners will bag £30,000 - up £6,000 on last year's figure - while Charlton know that victory in the third round proper will net them £75,000, a massive increase on last season's payout of £40,000.

Clubs lower down the pyramid are also set to benefit. Kent League teams who win their opening matches in the extra preliminary round will pocket £750, compared to £500 last season.

Preliminary round winners will gain prize money of £1,500, compared to £1,000 last season.

Clubs who win at the first qualifying round stage - one of the ties this season is Tonbridge v Dover - will earn £3,000 in prize money, compared to £2,250 in the last campaign.

A run of three wins for Blue Square South sides Welling and Bromley will earn them nearly £25,000 in prize money, compared to less than £19,000 last season.
