Cory Gibbs has yet to play for the Charlton first team

CORY GIBBS’ injury nightmare took a serious turn for the worse on Monday night when he was taken to hospital with a suspected broken left foot after 23 minutes of his comeback for Charlton Reserves.

A major question mark now hangs over the future of the 27-year-old United States international left-back who has hardly kicked a ball for the Addicks since joining the club on a pre-contract agreement in 2006 and never played in the first team.

Injury forced him to miss the 2006 World Cup and since then has managed a mere 45 minutes for the reserves against Reading last November.

Manager Alan Pardew looked on as a disconsolate Gibbs was helped to the dressing room before being replaced by Grant Basey.

On the brighter side, Therry Racon and Izale McLeod both scored their first Charlton goals as the reserves maintained their 100 per cent cent in the Pontins Holiday Combination with a 2-0 win over Brighton.
