Captain Johnnie Jackson scored an injury-time winner as Charlton boosted their survival hopes with a 1-0 home victory over QPR on Saturday.

Jackson’s strike secured the Addicks’ first win since Boxing Day and saw them close to within a point of Championship safety.

Rangers had lost their last two games and responded by handing a debut to on-loan West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison.

He wasted the visitors’ best chance by firing wide when unmarked in the penalty area.

Modibo Maiga also missed a simple chance for Harry Redknapp’s side and they were punished when Jackson finished.

Earlier, Jordan Cousins hit the post for Charlton, with Reza Ghoochannejhad’s follow-up also striking the woodwork.

Addicks boss Chris Powell said: “This is the benchmark for what is to come over the next 17 games, I will make sure of that.

“One or two things went in our favour, which is about time because we have had many, many things go against us for some while now.”
