Gillingham v Carlisle

GILLINGHAM manager Ronnie Jepson has called for his team to stop giving away soft goals ahead of Saturday's game against Carlisle at Priestfield.

Last week’s 2-2 draw at Brentford was the latest in a series of high-scoring games involving the club and Jepson said the responsibility lay with all his players to reduce the number of goals conceded.

He stressed: "We have to defend from the front. It isn’t just the back four and the goalkeeper. It’s getting pressure on the ball in the right areas and forcing people to play maybe a little bit quicker than they have."

Winger Matt Jarvis is in line for a starting spot on Saturday but midfielder Danny Spiller (illness) has been ruled out.
