BELIEF: Ternent and Jepson have instilled a new confidence in the Gills players

Derby County v Gillingham

GILLS assistant boss Ronnie Jepson has called on his players to show no fear as they travel to play high-flying Derby this weekend.

The management duo of Stan Ternent and Jepson have instilled a new belief in the side and have guided Gills out of the drop zone with Gills currently on a nine-game unbeaten run.

And Jepson wants more of the same as Gills visit Pride Park this weekend againt one of the Championship’s in-form teams.

He said: "Derby are a top side so it’s going to be a very difficult game but they all are at this stage of the season. We go there quietly confident with the run we’re on.

"We just need to do what we have been doing in the last nine games and show a good work ethic. Derby are a good side, they’re very experienced, and they’re obviously going for the play-offs.

"It won’t be easy as we go into the last three games of the season and I think we need to win one to enable us to maintain our Championship status.

"We have a great team spirit. The gaffer keeps everyone involved and keeps the squad of players together. He’s challenged the players who have the shirts to keep them and at the moment that’s what they’re doing.

"We go there with no fear. That’s what the gaffer has instilled in the lads. It’s a nerve-wracking time of the season but we need to maintain what we’ve been doing."

Jepson added: "There are no easy games at this stage of the season. Derby need the points for the play-offs and we need the points to keep us safe so there’s plenty to play for.

"We’ve got Derby, Cardiff and Forest left to play and they’re all big games for different reasons and in all of them we'll be after three points.

"We have three games left to pull enough out of the bag and get what we deserve. And with what we have achieved over the last few months I think we deserve it."

Jepson admitted that a few Gills players are carrying knocks but they wouldn’t know until Friday who would make the trip.
