MARC SEAGER: "It's beyond belief to have won the league in my first full season"

WHITSTABLE TOWN are celebrating winning the Kent League for the first time in their 122-year history after only challengers VCD failed to win at Tunbridge Wells on Wednesday night.

The 1-1 draw means that Whitstable clinch the title with one game left at Thamesmead on Saturday.

They are still on course to win the treble, having won the Kent Senior Trophy earlier this month, and meet Thamesmead again in the League Cup Final at Folkestone on Saturday, May 5.

Manager Marc Seager said: "It's beyond belief to have won the league in my first full season in charge. It's not just down to me, but the players, and everybody connected with the club on and off the pitch."

Whitstable are now set to join former Kent League rivals Cray Wanderers, Ramsgate and Maidstone United in the Ryman League next season.
