Gillingham striker Danny Kedwell plans to be back in training on Thursday.

The 10-goal striker has been sidelined for a month after a hernia operation.

He will take a giant stride towards returning for the Gills when he joins in with the rest of the players at Beechings Cross.

“I am not too sure how I am going to feel (in training) but if I am pain free now,” said Kedwell.

“I could be back for Wednesday (against Sheffield United) but I am not sure. I have to get as much fitness stuff done as possible and I am doing double sessions at the moment.”

Kedwell’s last appearance came in the 3-0 defeat at Colchester in January.

He had been carrying the injury for several weeks but the pain was such that he had to face an operation.

Speaking to the Gills website, he said: “I didn’t want to miss any games but I got the operation done and I’m going to come back and give 110% again.

“I can’t wait to get back and I start kicking a ball again on Thursday.

“It will be difficult to get back in and I understand that. We are in it together and it doesn’t matter who plays or scores.”
