Danny Kedwell has reiterated his desire to see out his career at Gillingham but insists the deal must be right.

The striker, who has led the scoring charts at Priestfield ever since moving to his hometown club from AFC Wimbledon, is out of contract in the summer.

In January he, along with any other player on a similar deal, is free to talk to other clubs.

The 30-year-old, who has two young sons and lives close to the ground, said: “This place is perfect for me but with football you never know what is around the corner.

"I might not get offered a new contract and so I just have to keep working hard and make sure I get offered one.

“If they don’t offer me anything, then I need to try and get another club. It is one of those things you have to do.

“This is my local club and I love playing here. This is my club and I will probably get easily persuaded (to agree a deal). This is where I want to be for the rest of my career but it has to be right for me and my family, not just for me to be playing for my local club.”
