Kent bowler makes England debut

Kent fast bowler Amjad Khan has been handed his England debut in the fifth and final test against the West Indies, which starts on Friday.

Spinner Monty Panesar has also been given a place in the side to play at Trinidad.

Ryan Sidebottom and Ravi Bopara are the pair who miss out in a match England must win to avoid a series defeat.

The 28-year-old was tipped to make his first start in the last test in Barbados.

He had taken five wickets in England's warm-up draw against the Barbados President's XI - but on that occasion the selectors opted for Sidebottom.

Skipper Andrew Strauss expressed his confidence in Khan being able to make the step up. He said: I'm excited by him because he offers something different.

"He's one of those bowlers who batsmen find hard to pick what type of delivery he is going to bowl."
