KHAN: injured ankle

KENT pace bowler Amjad Khan missed the start of today's top-of-the-table championship clash in Birmingham.

Khan injured his right ankle trying to take a catch in the win over Sussex last week and failed to overcome the injury in time for the start against Warwickshire.

Ben Trott was given another chance to shine in his stead, but Kiwi Ian Butler returned after shaking off the thigh injury that forced him to miss Canterbury Cricket Week.

Warwickshire skipper Nick Knight duly won his ninth toss out of 12 and elected to bat first on a sunny morning in the second city.

Kent: Fulton, Smith, Loudon, Bevan, Walker, Dennington, O'Brien, Patel, Trott, Butler, Joseph.
