FORMER Gillingham striker Marlon King is looking forward to life at Nottingham Forest after joining the club last week. The 23-year-old came on as a substitute in Forest’s 3-0 home defeat to league leaders West Brom on Saturday.

But despite the scoreline, King is hoping to score the goals that will fire Forest back into the promotion hunt. He said: “I had my mind set on joining Forest and I’m delighted that everything has been sorted out.

“I know the Forest fans will be expecting goals from me and that’s what I aim to deliver. Having said that, I’d like to think there’s much more to my game than that. I believe I can create chances for others.”

Forest manager Paul Hart stressed that his swoop for King was not a panic buy. He said: “We had already been looking at Marlon for two-and-a-half to three months and had already had one bid turned down by Gillingham.

“He is an out-and-out goalscorer and you can never have too many of those.”
