Amine Linganzi was in the Gills starting XI for the first time in over a month on Saturday.

His cross led to Gillingham’s opening goal against Port Vale and interim boss Peter Taylor was pleased with the Frenchman’s contribution.

Linganzi had been his only change to the team that played last Tuesday night at home to Notts County.

Taylor said: “We were pleased with him and I hope he was pleased with his performance.

“The only reason he got taken off was because he was tired as he hadn’t played that much and I thought he started making wrong decisions, taking too many touches.

“I thought first half he looked a good player and second half he did as well but he needs more matches.”
