ALAN LIPTROTT: resigned to never setting foot inside Priestfield again

BANNED Gillingham supporter Alan Liptrott has been recruited by Sky Television to join their commentary team for Saturday's FA Cup, fourth round tie against Leeds.

Mr Liptrott, banned for life from Priestfield by chairman Paul Scally after refusing to sell him his website domain name, will contribute to Sky’s Fanzone interactive service whereby viewers can choose to listen to the Gillingham or Leeds commentaries.

Wearing his Gillingham shirt, he will commentate on the match from Sky’s Isleworth Studios in Middlesex. He said: “If I can’t be at the game then this is the next best thing."

Mr Liptrott, 56, who is resigned to never setting foot inside Priestfield again, added: “I'm extremely grateful to Sky Television for giving me this chance."

On Friday night, Mr Liptrott will be a guest on BBC Radio Five Live who have invited him to talk about his life ban from a club he has supported for the best part of 30 years.
