Adam Miller has undergone surgery

Gillingham midfielder Adam Miller faces a fitness battle this summer as he recovers from surgery.

Miller went under the knife to treat a disrupted groin and he’s now biding his time as the effects slowly wear off.

“I’m used to burning off energy and that’s the same with most athletes,” he said.

“If I’m not doing that then I get down in the dumps and that’s where I’m at now. I need to release endorphins and if I do that then I’ll feel better, but at the moment I can only do a certain amount.

“They did keyhole surgery and cut my ligament in half and put mesh in there. It was all inflamed when he (the surgeon) opened it up as I had messed it up a bit where I kept playing and training and made it worse.

“The first three or four days I was limping around and I was unable to move freely. It effected everything from getting in and out of my car to rolling over in bed.

“I tried a couple of runs in the week and I could feel it and it was irritating me. It’s dead stiff and sore and I can’t really open up.

“I want to come back on the button fitness-wise, but I’m not sure if that’s going to happen.”
