MINSTER are looking to build on last week's one-wicket win over HSBC on Saturday in Kent League, Division 3.

The Islanders stole a one-wicket victory when 17-year-old Callum Hughes, the youngest player in the side, calmly closed the match with an unbeaten 23.

Minster skipper Mark Tucker paid tribute to a nerveless performance from Hughes.

“It was squeaky bum time,” he said. “Hughes was certainly the hero. He just went in there and smashed the ball all over the place. He made it look easy and compared to him it was as if the rest of the team had never batted before.

“Callum got us out of a hole and he did it with some proper cricket shots, some well placed drives, and he showed what a great temperament he has.”

Minster play their first home league match of the season this Saturday, against Gravesend, as they aim to make it two out of two in Division 3.
