National success for rugby teams

DEAL & BETTESHANGER and Whitstable both advanced in national cup ties at the weekend.

Deal beat Kent rivals Tonbridge Juddians 13-0 in the EDF Senior Vase, while unbeaten Whitstable were 24-14 winners at Norfolk club Holt in the junior version of the same competition.

Meanwhile, Canterbury swamped Old Colfeians 75-0 in the second round of the Kent Cup, scoring 11 tries and kicking 10 conversions.

Westcombe Park won 27-17 at Ashford. Sidcup were 19-13 winners at Dover, Sevenoaks beat Old Dartfordians 57-10, and Thanet Wanderers won 11-3 away at Tunbridge Wells.

The quarter finals are due to take place on February 11.
