DEFENDER Ben Chorley has revealed his desire to stay on at Gillingham and help the push for promotion.

Chorley, who is on loan from League 2 side MK Dons, believes the Gills have what it takes to continue up the league after Saturday's clean sheet – and he wants to be a permanent part of it.

The 24-year-old said: "It’s pretty obvious that I want to stay. I don’t want to be going back to that league.

"We’ve won all four games at home since I’ve been here. If we can pick up one or two points away then I think we’ll be fine and we’ll be up there."

Chorley was transfer-listed by Dons manager Martin Allen despite captaining the side, along with a handful of other players, and it seems unlikely he will return to the club.

As part of the loan agreement, Chorley is ruled out of the FA Cup match at Bristol City on Sunday.
