Alan Pardew does not want a repeat of the Scunthorpe display

Sheffield Wednesday v Charlton

CHARLTON visit Sheffield Wednesday tonight with manager Alan Pardew demanding greater consistency from his side after the Addicks promotion credentials were undermined by poor results against the bottom sides.

They lost 1-0 at home to Queens Park Rangers when they were rock bottom in October and went down 2-1 to Colchester on January 1 at The Valley. More recently they suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at Scunthorpe on February 2.

Wednesday are third from bottom despite Saturday's battling performance in the 2-1 defeat away to third placed Bristol City.

"Losing at Scunthorpe was one of the biggest disappointments of my managerial career," said Pardew.

"We don't need any more repeats because three of our next four home games are against the top sides, so it's in our hands."

Pardew is likely to name the same side that beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in Friday's derby at The Valley.

Jerome Thomas, who missed the match through illness, returns to contention while central defender Sam Sodje and on-loan midfielder Lee Cook from Fulham trained on Sunday and may figure.

Tonight's match marks a first return Hillsborough for central defender Madjid Bougherra who moved to Charlton for £2.5 million in January last year and was taunted by Wednesday supporters when their side lost 3-2 at The Valley in August.
