KENT spinner Min Patel picked up two quick wickets to give Kent a much-needed boost on the third day of their Frizzell Championship clash with Warwickshire.

The left-arm spinner sent back Ian Bell (49) and Jim Troughton (21) to send the Bears into lunch on 453 for five.

Earlier, Ben Trott accounted for former Warwickshire skipper Michael Powell to bring an end to his seven-and-a-half hour stay.

Powell reached 134 and had seen his side through to 196 when he fell to the Kent seamer and gave the hosts their first bowling bonus point on the third morning of the game.

Aiming to hook a bouncer, Powell got a top-edge to send the ball high to Min Patel who took a well-judged catch low down at long leg.

England swing bowler Martin Saggers made the first breakthrough of the day by removing Jonathon Trott for 115.

Having featured in a second-wicket stand worth 183 in 55 overs with Powell, Trott reached his century in Saggers' first over of the morning with a clipped four through square-leg and from 155-balls and with 13 fours.

He his two more boundaries before falling in the 104th over, aiming to force off the back-foot he edged to wicketkeeper Niall O'Brien to bring an end to his 196-minute stay.

Patel then came on at the North End to have Troughton stumped by O'Brien.

Then, in the over before lunch, he had Bell caught by David Fulton from a top-edged sweep as Fulton ran from slip to leg slip to claim the catch.
