TRANSFER REQUEST: Danny Kedwell wants to play full-time football

Welling United v Eastbourne Borough

WELLING boss Adrian Pennock has urged the club's fans to get behind wantaway striker Danny Kedwell.

The 20-goal forward handed in a transfer request earlier this week but still played in the abandoned FA Trophy second roune tie at Tamworth on Tuesday night.

Kedwell has received stick from a small section of supporters but Pennock insisted that the striker will still give 100 per cent to the cause - starting with Saturday's home match against Eastbourne Borough (1.30pm).

Pennock said: "I don't know whether Danny will be here for one more game or until the end of the season, but I can assure everyone that he will always give us everything.

"His reasons for requesting a transfer are that he wants to go full-time and support his young family.

"I can understand that but I can also understand the fans having a go at him. However, it is important that they get behind him while he is in a Welling shirt.

"Danny has told me that he will continue to give his all for the club and he said before the Tamworth game that he wanted to go out and score a hat-trick for the team."

Welling will again be without skipper Jamie Day, who is still trying to complete the final game of his three-match ban.

Keeper Jamie Turner is rated 50/50 to return while Pennock must decide whether to recall Tony Battersby, who was cup-tied for the Tamworth clash.

Welling will hand a debut to new signing, Dane Springer, who joined the club on Friday on loan from Charlton Athletic. Springer is expected to play in midfield.
