PENNOCK: "They complement each other really well"

WELLING boss Adrian Pennock will hope his side can bounce back from their midweek defeat to Histon when they entertain Yeading at Park View Road on Saturday.

Pennock is likely to hand left-back Leon Solomon his first start of the season after he played more than 45 minutes during Tuesday's reverse.

The midfield pairing of Jamie Day and summer signing Des Boateng may hold the key for Welling and Pennock admitted that he is pleased with how well they have combined so far this season.

"They complement each other really well," said Pennock. "They pick up a lot of loose balls and both like to get into the penalty area.

"Des has settled into the club really well and is a great character in the dressing room – the lads have taken to him already."

* Meanwhile, Welling are starting their Saturday coaching sessions for youngsters at Avery Hill Park this weekend.

The sessions, which will run from 9.45am to 10.45am, will be taken by qualified coaches and will continue every Saturday throughout the season.

For more details about the coaching sessions or to join Junior Wings, which offers a range of benefits for Welling supporters aged under 16, contact Jim Dean on 07790 365910.
