CAPTAIN'S PERFORMANCE: Paul Smith

JASON BROWN: Was unlucky with the Preston goal and made a great save to stop Nugent making it 2-0 in the second-half.
6

NYRON NOSWORTHY: Not at his best in the first-half but did reasonably well at centre-half after the break.
5

IAN COX: Had to deal with a barrage of crosses in the opening stages and won plenty in the air.
7

CHRIS HOPE: No worse than anyone else in the first-half and it was a major surprise that he was hauled off at half-time.
5 (Substituted for Matt Jarvis on 46 mins)

JAY McEVELEY: Has been superb for Gills since joining on loan but Saturday was the exception.
4

NICKY SOUTHALL: Looked lightweight in midfield and nearly cost Gills a goal with a sloppy back pass.
4

PAUL SMITH: Battled hard in midfield and came up with a true captain’s goal.
7

MICHAEL FLYNN: An ineffective display from someone who doesn’t quite look at home on the left flank.
5 (Substituted for John Hills on 83 mins)

JONATHAN DOUGLAS: Another loan signing who didn’t perform to his usual standards in centre midfield.
5

MAMADY SIDIBE: Provided nuisance value and little more, with Gills’ attacking play almost non-existent.
5

DARIUS HENDERSON: Failed to make much of an impression and was replaced at the interval.
5 (Substituted for Darren Byfield on 46 mins)
