Rugby club stalwart dies aged 58

Mick Burford suffered a heart attack

MEDWAY Rugby Club are mourning treasurer and secretary Mick Burford who died from a heart attack on Monday. He was 58.

He is survived by his wife Regina and children Michelle, Reuben, Mel, Rachael and Louise.

Former chairman Ozzie Marlow said: "Mick played rugby for the club for many years. He was a prop forward and played for the first team.

"For the last 10 years he has been secretary and treasurer and turned the finances around. He didn’t have an enemy and never had a bad word to say about anybody."

The funeral will take place at Blue Bell Hill Crematorium on Friday, January 26 at 12.40pm. Any donations should be sent to the club: Priestfields Recreation Ground, Priestfields, Rochester, Kent, ME1 3AD.
