Sami swings the balance Kent's way

MOHAMMAD SAMI struck with the last ball before tea to improve Kent's chances of securing a last-day win in Northamptonshire.

A full-length delivery struck Graeme Swann on the boot to for a successful leg-before decision to end Swann's 55-ball stay for 42 runs.

It left Northamptonshire, who need 410 to win, on 243 for six and ended a sixth-wicket stand of 76.

Min Patel claimed the other two wickets of the session, having Usman Afzaal (11) held at silly point and David Sales (12) leg before to a quicker ball.

At the other end, Martin van Jaarsveld dug in to reach an unbeaten 111, his first century for Northamptonshire.

Kent eill have a minumum 26 overs in the final session to claim the four wickets they need to clinch a third Frizzell Championship win of the summer.
