Hartley Country Club went on a run spree at Bexley in the Shepherd Neame Kent League Premier Division on Saturday.

After being put into bat by Bexley skipper George Wells, the early league leaders piled up 331-5 from their 55 overs. Former Kent player James Hockley led the way with 123 off 148 balls and figured in a stand of 110 for the fourth wicket with James Thompson, who made 88.

But second-placed Bexley then batted stubbornly when it was their turn, Wells leading by example until falling leg before to Sam Billings one short of his century, and the home side eventually earned a draw on 198-4.

Sibton Park are in third place following their two-wicket win in a low-scoring game with Bickley Park at Lyminge.

Bickley Park were bowled out for 129 in 46.4 overs with Steve Rowe and Mike James taking three wickets apiece.

But Sibton Park then found run scoring equally difficult against Dan Magin (4-38) and they were grateful to Steve Hickmott (38 not out) for guiding them past the winning line.

Bromley notched up their first victory of the season with a five-wicket success at Blackheath.

Richard Clinton top scored for Blackheath with 67 as they set a modest target of 188-9 which Bromley passed in 40.3 overs, thanks mainly to 77 from Kirk Edwards.

Sevenoaks Vine and Beckenham were involved in a tied contest at The Vine. The home side were asked to bat first and made 193-9, Oliver Howick top scoring with 53. Chris Isles claimed 5-45 for Beckenham and then made 65 as the visitors finished on 193-7 in reply.

The game between Lordswood and Whitstable at Martin Grove was abandoned without a ball being bowled because of a waterlogged pitch.
