On-loan Watford midfielder Connor Smith remains in Gills boss Peter Taylor’s thoughts despite not making the squad in the last two games.

Smith missed wins over Crawley and Coventry but will be fighting for a place on the bench at Bradford on Saturday.

Taylor said: “He’s got to treat it like a little hiccup in his career.

“He’s a good player but he didn’t play well against Bristol City and he didn’t have a chance to put it right last week because he was away with the Republic of Ireland and we’ve only done a light session on Monday.

“He’s still a part of what I’m trying to do here and he’s a good player."

Myles Weston boosted his chances of starting a third game in a row after scoring his first goal of the season, against Coventry on Tuesday, although Taylor wants the winger to show more consistency.

He said: “At times he looks confident, at times he looks nervous and that’s where he’s just needs to get a bit more consistency."

Defenders Ryan Inniss and Michael Harriman have an outside chance of recovering from hamstring injuries but Danny Kedwell (knee) and Chris Whelpdale (ankle) remain sidelined.
