Kent affiliated football clubs receive over £300,000 in grants from the government's Winter Survival Fund

The Kent FA have revealed the huge amount of money grassroots teams in the county have received from the Winter Survival Fund.

Part of the government's Sport Winter Survival Package, the Football Winter Survival Package is a fund that aimed to support clubs at Step three to six of the National League System that have been severely impacted by Covid-19 Restrictions.

Kent clubs have received over £300,000 in government grants to help them survive

There were 45 Kent FA affiliated clubs that benefited from the fund and between them they have received a total of £361,730 in grants.

Kent FA’s football development manager Lee Suter, said: “The investment from the government, with the support

of Sport England is needed more than ever clubs and this support will help contribute to a safe return to football for so many."

Culture secretary Oliver Dowden said: “Through our Sport Survival Package and existing business support schemes, we have helped hundreds of clubs to survive this difficult winter period.

“As the turnstiles begin to open over the coming weeks, players, staff and fans across the country can now look forward to a full return to action with confidence."

The government unveiled their package in January, aiming to inject £10m into the game for football clubs between steps three and six of the NLS, as part of an overall £300m Sports Winter Survival Package, focused on helping the major spectator sports that were hardest hit during the pandemic.
