ACTING captain Andrew Symonds cracked a stunning 34-ball century to inspire Kent to a cracking seven wicket win over Middlesex.

Rain at the mid-point of the Middlesex innings reduced the match at The Mote to 18-overs per side and ensured the visitors lost their flow.

Martin Saggers with two for 14 and Amjad Khan with two for 27 were the pick of the Kent attack as injury-hit Middlesex failed to fire on all cylinders.

Chad Keegan offered their only sustained firepower with 42 from 16 balls, but the adjusted target of 157 from 18 overs was never enough to test Symonds and the Spitfires.

After the loss of Shahid Afridi for just on one a disappointing debut, Symonds took over to hammer three sixes and 18 fours in a stunning 49-minute innings that transformed the game.

Having been dropped by Keegan on 11 to a tough over-head chance at long off, he went on to steer Kent home with almost five overs in hand.

He fell for 112 just an over from victory, but han ensured it was to be Kent's night.
