Danny Kedwell is out of contract in the summer

Peter Taylor is in no rush to bring Danny Kedwell back following his hernia surgery.

Kedwell was back training with the first team this week but has been ruled out of the next few games.

Taylor has pencilled 10-goal striker Kedwell in for Bristol City, next weekend, at the earliest.

But with other strikers scoring regularly, he has no problem in taking time to get the striker back to full fitness.

Taylor said: “Danny hasn’t done much training with the first team and it’s unrealistic to think he will be involved (for Sheffield United or Oldham). Even Bristol City might be too early.

“At the moment, while the other strikers are scoring goals, I am not in a mad panic either.

“Joe Pigott has done well, Bayo has done well, Cody is in form and whenever Craig Fragan has played he has done great.

“We are fortunate to have four people in good form.”

Kedwell underwent hernia surgery last month and he’ll be desperate to return to the squad.

Since his injury absence his position at the top of the club’s goalscoring charts has been taken over by Cody McDonald.

“We want to be careful with him,” said Taylor, when speaking to Gills’ official website.

“When Danny comes back I want him to be as fit as he has ever been.”

Kedwell could get a run-out in a development game against Luton Town next week.
