Peter Taylor’s men take on League 1 leaders Leyton Orient on Boxing Day.

And the Gills boss believes recent results have given his side plenty of confidence heading into a testing fixture.

Taylor said: “Orient have been magnificent all season and what a start they have had.

“It’s a massive match for us and we will be getting ourselves prepared for that.

“We will be training the right amount before Christmas and it’s certainly made our Christmas straight away to have got the points at Tranmere because we needed them.

“It is a nice position for us in the league at the moment. If we can go and perform like we did the last time we were at Priestfield, I will be happy with that. We played Peterborough then (drawing 2-2) and they are a good team.

“Orient are another good team. People are expecting us not to beat them but we can take a lot of confidence from Friday night.”
