Gillingham manager Peter Taylor completed his fourth summer signing this week and hopes to have all-but completed his recruiting by the end of the month.

The Gillingham squad return to training on Tuesday, July 1 and boss Taylor hopes to have added several more faces by that date.

He is still in the market to strengthen all outfield areas of the Gills team as he looks to build on their 17th place finish last season.

Taylor said: “We are talking away and working hard and we are looking to make sure that when we come back for pre-season, we have a good squad that is ready to challenge and prepare as a group.

“We are looking to tie things up as much as possible so we can start from day one with everybody on board.”

Taylor has so far landed goalkeeper Glenn Morris, defensive midfielder Aaron Morris, winger Jermaine McGlashan and left-sided midfielder Doug Loft.

Despite the desire to complete his signings in time for pre-season, he won’t be jumping blindly into any transfer business.

He said: “We are not saying this is our list, these are our targets and the players we can get, let’s go and grab them straight away. We are taking our time.

“When someone like Doug Loft comes along, you make up your mind pretty sharpish and try and get them in. You will start to get calls about players you weren’t already aware of.

“That’s where you have to take your time. You can only spend your money once.”
