Peter Taylor is in no rush to recruit on loan transfer deadline day.

The Gills boss hasn’t ruled out a new arrival at Priestfield on Thursday but with League 1 safety almost assured he doesn’t want to rock the boat.

Taylor has already got four loanees on the books.

When asked on Tuesday night if he was likely to add to that number, the Gillingham manager said: “At the moment, probably no.

“Joe Pigott has gone back to Charlton, of course, but unless I get any calls I am probably sticking with what I have got.

“At times you can make changes for the sake of it and when a new face comes in you have to start again.”

Taylor is reluctant for any players to leave, while the Gills’ future in League 1 is still not certain.

But striker Antonio German may be one player who is keen to head out on loan in a bid to get minutes under his belt. He hasn’t featured for the Gills since returning from a loan spell at Northampton earlier this month.

Taylor said: “A couple of non-league clubs have made enquiries (about our players) but I want us to get safe before I do anything. I don’t want to lose too many.”

On Wednesday, teenager Ashley Miller, who was released by the Gills earlier this month, agreed to join Nicky Southall’s Ryman League side Whitstable Town for the rest of the season.
