Almost 200 fans cheered the Gillingham to victory at Carlisle on Saturday – and they were rewarded with a first win at Brunton Park for over 20 years.

Their support wasn’t lost on Gills boss Peter Taylor, who said: “It was fantastic support and I am delighted for them.

“Of course we are all pleased with the three points and it’s magnificent timing for the club but for the supporters, who went all that way, it’s fantastic for them. They could have a good journey back afterwards.”

Gillingham’s last win in Carlisle came in 1993 when a double from Nicky Forster was enough to give them a 2-1 win. The Gills lost their next five before Saturday’s win ended that run.
