Peter Taylor is feeling the pressure of trying to keep Gillingham in League 1.

Gills host Crawley at Priestfield on Saturday looking to end a run of three defeats that’s dragged them back into the relegation scrap.

Taylor has never been relegated in a managerial career that’s seen him win five promotions and is determined to keep Gillingham up. He admits the heat is on and says players should be concerned but has called for calm.

He said: “You always feel pressure in management. I felt pressure when I came back for my first game against Preston.

“You then want to win your next match and I am desperate to make sure we remain a League 1 team, simple as that.

“It’s close. You look at all the fixtures and there’s still a lot of teams in a bit of trouble. It’s up to us to stay calm."

Gills are 16th in League 1 but only three points clear of the relegation zone.
