Gillingham assistant manager John Schofield writes exclusively for the KM Group every week

John Schofield

Crawley offers another good test for us this weekend.

They have been at this level for a few years, they’ve found their feet and their manager Richie Barker is doing a great job there.

They signed Emile Sinclair last week and he is a player who would have interested a lot of managers, because he is that type of player. They have some good players.

But we have to concentrate what we are about, what we’ve got and the quality players in our squad. We look at the opposition and try and nullify what they will do but we will focus on what we are going to do.

All of the lads are desperate to play but you can only start 11 every week.

When people do get a chance, they have to do what we all know they can. The lads who came into the team on Tuesday did that.

The likes of Antonio German, Bradley Dack and Cody McDonald did well and it was a good all-round team performance.

To us, the lads did what they can do. There was no surprise to see the lads playing like that.
