Chris McPhee has quit the FA Trophy winners

Striker Chris McPhee has left Ebbsfleet United after failing to agree a new deal.

FA Trophy hero McPhee has moved to Devon to start a new life with his fiancee Susie – and could even take time away from the game.

The former Brighton, Swindon and Torquay man was offered the choice of a one or two-year deal by the Fleet but his heart was set on a move away.

Fleet manager Liam Daish said: “I have been patient in trying to get Chris to agree something but he’s decided to move on. His words were that he’s thinking of taking time away from football.

“It does surprise me but I’ve got to respect his decision. He enjoyed himself here but he’s decided to move to Devon with his future wife and I wish him all the best.

“His last game for the club will always be remembered by him and everyone else.”
