WESTCOMBE PARK maintained their position at the top of National League 2 after securing a 27-10 win over Halifax.
In the early exchanges, both sides used the boot to good effect but Halifax scored their first and only try when Combe conceded a lineout on their 22.
Scrum-half Craig Aikman found Tom Eaton who ran in from 25 metres to score by the posts. Full-back Joe Knowles added the extras.
The visitors pulled level when fly-half James Whittingham found flanker Ian Hardcastle who cruised through to score near the posts. Whittingham converted.
Just before half-time, a penalty from Whittingham gave Combe the first half advantage.
In the second half, Halifax were awarded a penalty for offside which Knowles converted to level the score at 10-10.
From the restart, Combe poured forward and Roux found Whittingham who in turn fed debutant centre Tom Latu who dived over.
A well managed catch and drive from a lineout saw Combe extend their lead when Jon Moyce went over, with Whittingham adding the extras.
Halifax looked to find a way back into the game but Combe wrapped up the victory when Chris Lewis set up Hardcastle, who went over in the corner.
