Myles Weston is backing himself to flourish next season.

The 25-year-old made an instant impact at Priestfield last term following his free-transfer move from Brentford.

He played 39 games for the Gills, starring on either the wing or up front, but believes he has more to offer.

He said: “I played better this season than the last one because I was happy. The more you play the better you get. This season I played well but I think I have a lot more to offer and hopefully next season I will show that.

“I just want to enjoy playing football, that is my main objective, and to do better than what I have done this season. That’s my main thing, that’s what I am thinking now.”

Weston finished the season with a niggling ankle injury but will be back fully fit and ready to go. And he believes the Gills can be a force again next season.

He said: “The team is definitely good enough to do it again, the squad is good enough.

“We have seen Peterborough do it before and there are loads of teams who have done double promotions so I don’t see why we can’t do it."
