WELLING manager Neil Smith has called on the club's supporters to turn out in force during the winter months.

The Wings came from behind to beat rivals Bromley in Blue Square South on Saturday, watched by a crowd of 1,016 – the highest for a league game at Park View Road since April 2004.

Boosted by a large number of players from the club's youth team, Smith wants the new faces to come back again.

He said: "It was a great atmosphere, it was like a cup final and that's how local derbies should be.

"The crowd have been fantastic since I've come to the club. I know there are a few doubters but I hope they can see the way we are trying to play.

"We got the ball down and passed it well in the second half, as Bromley did as well to be fair, so I'm sure it was a great game for everyone to watch."

Welling take their entertaining brand of football to Dorchester on Saturday in Blue Square South as they face a side without a league win since mid-September.

Wings skipper Richard Carpenter, who came off with a dead leg against Bromley, is suspended having reached five bookings.

Smith has boosted his squad by signing 18-year-old Southend striker Charles Ademeno on a two-month loan deal.

Ademeno is working his way back to fitness following a knee operation.

He said: "This move should be good for me because at the moment I need to work my way back from injury and play games.

"I was at Cambridge last season and that worked out well for me, so I hope to have a similar impact at Welling."
