Welling breathed new life into their play-off campaign with an impresive demolition of title-chasing Hampton in Blue Square South on Saturday.

The Wings dominated from first whistle to last and goals from Moses Ademola, James Baker (2) and Jack Parkinson vindicated Andy Ford's decision to leave top scorer Charlie Sheringham on the bench.

Baker and Harry Arter both went close before a defensive mix-up midway through the first half saw the ball fall to Ademola on the edge of the box and he found space to fire home a powerful drive.

Wings keeper Charlie Mitten produced an excellent one-handed save to deny Kieran Knight at the other end before Sanchez Ming fired wide close to half-time.

But Welling did go in two goals to the good as Ademola was taken out by Orlando Jeffrey and Baker comfortably slotted away the penalty.

Both sides were fortunate not to have a player sent off on the hour after Welling skipper Rob Quinn clashed with Knight as temperatures threaten to boil over - but the Wings let their football do the talking and persistence from Arter 14 minutes from time set up Ademola who handed Baker a close range tap-in after his original effort was blocked.

Welling capped off an excellent day four minutes into stoppage time when Arter's deep corner was headed in by the impressive Parkinson.

Bromley 1 Braintree Town 4

Bromley's five-match unbeaten run was brought to an abrupt end as they were overwhelmed by Braintree Town at Hayes Lane.

Former Lillywhites striker Danny Hockton opened the scoring on 11 minutes when he was left totally unmarked to head home Lewis Riddle's corner from inside the six-yard box.

It was 2-0 four minutes later Andy Porter drove home from 12 yards and Hockton emphasised Braintree's superiority in the 34th minute when he ran through to make it 3-0.

The second half was a slightly tamer affair and the visitors didn't find the net again until six minutes from time when Ryan Hall was penalised for a foul on the edge of the box and Riddle expertly curled home the free-kick.

Substitute Ashley-Paul Robinson pulled a goal back in stoppage-time cutting in from the left and hammering past former Bromley keeper Craig Holloway but iut was little consolation for Mark Goldberg's side who were well beaten on the day.
