Kent Women beat Middlesex twice in their two T20 matches at Beckenham

Kent Women maintained their impressive start to the season on Monday as they registered two more T20 wins.

Kent had already registered a win double against Surrey in his year’s county T20 competition and made it four from four.

They beat Middlesex Women by 20 runs in their opener on Monday, restricting the visitors to 130-7.

Batting first, Kent lost Grace Scrivens early but Grace Gibbs and Sarah Bryce raced to a 50-partnership and the hosts reached 71-1 at the halfway point.

Gibbs (60 off 49 balls) went onto record here first half century for Kent Women in all formats while Bryce (63 not out) made it past 50 for the first time this summer for the county, the second wicket pairing putting on 106 runs.

Undeterred by early early exit with the bat, Scrivens picked up a couple of wickets in successive balls, but Kate Coppack defended the last ball of the game to deny her a hat-trick.

Kent won the second game by seven wickets, bowling Middlesex out for 131 and knocking the runs off with just two balls remaining.

Kirtis Gordon took three wickets for just one run in the 18th over to finish with figures of 4-17.

One again it was Kent’s second wicket pairing that proved key, this time Bryce (59) and Phoebe Franklin (51) got the runs, with a four from the fourth ball of the final over for Bryce sealing victory.

Kent lead the way at the top of the South East Group. They face Sussex Women next on Sunday.
