Bolton Wanderers 4 Charlton Athletic 1

CHARLTON produced a disappointing display to go down 4-1 at Bolton on Saturday.

The home side were ahead after just 14 minutes when Ricardo Vaz Te netted his first Premiership goal with a fine header from Hidetoshi Nakata's cross.

The lead was doubled six minutes later when Kevin Davies was on hand to tap-in after Jared Borgetti's header had come back off the post, although Addicks keeper Thomas Myhre will feel he should have dealt better with the initial effort.

And it was 3-0 after half an hour when Borgetti was allowed to continue with Charlton appealing for offside before cutting in and firing past Myhre.

Darren Bent's penalty in the 76th minute, converted after an innocuous foul by Jussi Jaaskelainen on substitute Jay Bothroyd, was merely a consolation for Alan Curbishley's side, who conceded again late on when Davies bagged his second.

Charlton: Myhre, Sankofa (Kishishev 70), Perry, Sorondo, Powell, Rommedahl (Fortune h-t), Holland, Euell, Hughes, Ambrose (Bothroyd h-t), D Bent
Subs Not Used: Andersen, Youga.
Attendance: 24,713.
