Max Moss clinched the boys’ slalom title in his age category by less than a second at the British Land National Ski Championships.

The 12-year-old from Rochester beat French-based skier Louis Russell-Henry by 52 hundreths of a second at the event in Meribel, France.

The gap between the pair had been even less after the first run, as Russell-Henry led Moss by just 17 hundreths of a second, in the children 1 age group.

But Moss struck back with an attacking second run to claim the title.

He said: “My first run was okay but the coach thought it was the best he’d seen and then my second was better!

“I had prepared my skis really well and that helps.”

Clinching third place in the girls’ slalom was 13-year-old Chatham ski racer Emily Evans. Evans was fourth after the first run but went better in the second to finish 46 hundreths of a second off second place.
