Maidstone Mencap Cobtree Playschool held a party to celebrate its celebrated its 40th birthday . Before the school started, there was nowhere for parents to take disabled children but now hundreds of youngsters have been helped on their way to adulthood. Schoolboy Redmond Lee-Allder, 13, tackled a machete-wielding intruder on a family holiday in Barbados. Redmond, of Blythe Road, Maidstone, put the would-be robber in an armlock after he confronted his 11-year-old sister, Millina.
