Despite heavy rain, scores of people turned out for Cranbrook's annual apple fair. The festival turned out to be better than ever even though the apple pressing was cancelled and the children's dance troupes were unable to perform in the rain. Picture: John Westhrop
Hazel and Tony Welsh received a long service award from Kent County Council in recognition of their 45 years of fostering. The pair, from Allington, Maidstone, have fostered hundreds of children since answering a small advert in the Kent Messenger in 1963. Picture: David Anony Hunt.
Maidstone Mencap Cobtree Playschool held a party to celebrate its celebrated its 40th birthday . Before the school started, there was nowhere for parents to take disabled children but now hundreds of youngsters have been helped on their way to adulthood. Two of the first children to register in November 1968 Graham Ovendon (left) and Martin Bateman, both 44, cut the birthday cake. Picture: David Antony Hunt
OK, it may not be very deep but this is defnitely snow lying on the ground in Brenchley Gardens, outside Maidstone Museum. Picture: Angela Cole
Schoolboy Redmond Lee-Allder, 13, tackled a machete-wielding intruder on a family holiday in Barbados. Redmond, of Blythe Road, Maidstone, put the would-be robber in an armlock after he confronted his 11-year-old sister, Millina. Father Dane Lee, pictured here with wife, Beni and the children, said: “If Redmond had not gone in first I just don’t know what would have happened.” Picture: David Antony Hunt

After a rotten summer and what seemed like never-ending rain in the autumn, it probably came as little surprise that November was cold enough at times for snow to fall.
