Accident claims biker's life

Victim: Robert McEwen-Cowan

A 22-year-old man who died following a motorbike accident in Mereworth has been named.

Robert Cowan, 22, of Smithers Close, Hadlow died on Sunday, September 6 when he came off an off-road bike woods near Swanton Road.

Robert’s family said: "This tragic accident has taken from us a wonderful son and brother. Robert loved cars, motorbikes and engines from a very early age and always enjoyed being out and about with his friends. We are devastated by his sudden death and he will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.”

An inquest into the death has been opened and adjourned.

Mr Cpwan's funeral will be at noon on Friday, September 18 at St Mary's Church, Hadlow.
