Shoppers have been left "fuming" after a number of Aldi stores were today unable to accept card payments.

Customers have reported long queues and frustration among shoppers at supermarkets across the country.

A notice outside one store in Maidstone today said: "Cash only due to national IT issue, sorry for the inconvenience".

Aldi says it is aware of an issue reportedly affecting a number of stores across the country.

The retail giant has apologised to numerous customers in a series of tweets, insisting it is aware of the issue and trying to rectify it as soon as possible.
