Reports of child abduction attempt at Tesco in Grove Green

Warnings about a woman who allegedly tried to snatch a little girl outside a supermarket have been circulating on social media.

Facebook users have reacted with concern after the post was made on Monday.

The original poster claimed that her friend's daughter was first followed and then approached by an older woman outside Tesco in Grovewood Drive North, Grove Green.

The incident took place outside Tesco in Grove Green

The two-year-old was reportedly invited to go with the woman but left after being spotted by the mother.

Police confirmed reports of a 'suspicious incident' at around 12pm on Monday, October 15

A spokesman from the force said: "It is reported that a woman approached a two-year-old child who appeared to be on her own.

A Facebook post described the attempted abduction (4999893)

"The woman asked the child where her mother was. The girl pointed at her mother who was close by and the child ran over to her and they left the shop.

"No physical contact was made with the child; the incident was reported to police because the woman’s behaviour was deemed strange."
