Maidstone residents and drivers have been urged to check for CCTV or dashcam footage following allegations of a sexual assault in a park.

Police say the assault on a teenage girl was reported to have happened in Oakwood Park near Queen’s Road, on Monday between 5pm and 6pm.

It is alleged the suspect ran away when the victim raised the alarm and alerted nearby friends.

A man is said to have left the area in a black car, which had blacked out windows and no visible wing mirrors, and the vehicle appeared to have damage to the driver’s side window.

The suspect was described by the victim as Asian, possibly of Indian descent, and was short with a beard.

Investigating officers are continuing to pursue several lines of enquiry and are asking people in nearby roads to check security systems, including doorbell cameras which may show the suspect’s movements. Motorists who travel in this area are also asked to review dashcams.

Anyone with information which may assist the investigation should contact Kent Police by calling 01622 604100, quoting reference 46/96478/23.

You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or by using the online form on their website.
