POLICE are appealing for information after thieves broke into a shed and stole a quad bike and a trials motorcycle.

The incident happened in South Park Road, Maidstone, overnight between February 19 and 20, when the offenders entered the rear garden of a property, removed the alarm from the shed and broke in.

They stole a red, black and white Tiger trials 110cc motorcycle worth around £350 and a red, black and silver Aeon Colt quad bike worth around £400.

The bikes had been chained together inside the shed but the thieves appear to have taken the chain as well. Police say no one was seen.

Anyone with information about the incident should contact police in Mid Kent on 01622 604180 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 – this call is free and confidential.

Meanwhile, Police in Mid Kent are advising the following:

* Sheds and garages should always be properly secured with a good quality lock and, where possible, an alarm.

* The property within these outbuildings should be security marked with the owner’s house number and postcode, while details of specific makes, models, serial numbers etc., should be recorded and stored safely.

* For larger and more distinctive items, it can be useful to take photographs to keep with the other details already mentioned.

Implement security lighting in usually dark areas, as thieves do not want to be seen and do not want to draw any attention to themselves.
